Bro Glasbruk > The Glassworks > Environment
At Bro Glasbruk we put our focus on the environment. The furnace that we use to melt glass with is driven only by biogas (methanegas). Plus, everything we make here is made from three different kinds of recycled glass.
![]() Float This sort of glass is what you typically make windowglass from. We take care of glass that otherwise would have been scrapped because of errors during the hardening process. |
![]() Monitor This glass comes from old scrapped CRT TVs and computer monitors. It has a unique see through greyish colour. |
![]() Env. friendly crystall The environmental friendly crystal is free from lead and arsenic. This glass has the same sheen as old crystal and is collected from other Swedish glassworks scrap. |
But most important is the biogas! The biogas is an Energas, which means that the gas has a high energy content and can be used as fuel.
The biogas is collected from the recyclingplant Högbytorp nearby and is delivered to Bro Glasbruk via pipelines. In the glassworks the gas is routed to the furnice’s burner. To acheive a better combustion, air from a fan is routed into the burner as well. If no air is added, there would be no oxygen for the flame to consume.
